The Rhodesian Philatelist is an independent magazine which has no link with any other publication.
First edition July, 1993 - No 28, January 2009.

Published in A4 format, each edition is 16 to 20 pages with 4 to 6 pages of colour illustrations. No 28 has 24 pages, with the illustrations positioned with the appropriate text.
Recipient of a Vermeil Award for Literature (ILSPEX 98).

Southern & Northern Rhodesia.
From 1890 was administrated under a Royal Charter by the British South Africa Company.
This period we usually refer to as the BSAC

Self Government
1st October 1923, Southern Rhodesia became a Self Government.
On 1st October 1924 Northern Rhodesia (formerly NW & N.E. Rhodesia) attained Colonial Rule by the British Government.


1954-1963
The above territories part of the Federation of Rhodesia & Nyasaland.


The Break Up
After the break up of the Federation, each country retained its old name for a short period.

Nyasaland became independent and was renamed Malawi in July 1964. Northern Rhodesia, after Independence, became Zambia in October 1964.
Southern Rhodesia shortened its name to Rhodesia in October 1964 and, after 1980 Independence, became Zimbabwe.
