BULAWAYO
11 FEB 47 £1500
Whilst
the October 1944 6d aerogramme H&G 1 was in use
an order to replenish the stock was placed in England
and that particular version
H&G 3 was issued on the 25th March 1947.
Prior to the arrival of that new stock, the supply of
the locally produced version rapidly decreased and in
order to meet the public demand for aerogrammes an emergency
printing was called for.
There was a supply of a Great Britain stampless aerogramme
with a Control No 51-5829 on the lower part of its side
panel
For reasons unknown, the Postal authority decided to
modify the foregoing air letter
by imprinting a facsimile of the current
KGVI 6d definitive onto the form . Around
a dozen used copies recorded & rated as one of the
World’s rarest Aerogrammes
